Kyoto Nishi Ouji Sanjyo “Usagi no Nedoko”

Every time I came to Kyoto as a business trip, I could not go to a mineral cafe, Usagi-no Nedoko, and went back to Tokyo with painful reluctance.

Finally I went to the cafe, which had been on my mind for long time.

The concept of the cafe is to enjoy the beauty of natural masterpieces.
There are a lot of mineralogical and botanical specimens in the cafe.

Surrounded by minerals and plants, I felt like that I had a tea in a museum.

I had wanted to go to the cafe since I heard about it. Scince colors of minerals are vivid, and look like delicious desserts so I just want to eat.

Minerals are not able to be eaten, even if I wanted to eat. However, the cafe makes eatable minerals.

I was interested in everything, but after all this!
I ordered a minerals’ sweets assort(1350yen).

They looked like real minerals on a specimen board , but actually they were made from eatable sweets.

At first, Zircon.
The red gem was characteristic, and was reproduced with cranberries.
The black part around the red gem was black cocoa brownies.
The eatable Zircon was so tasty, because sweet and sour cranberries went well with cocoa.

Next, Cavansite.
The blue gem was characteristic, and was reproduced with blue sugared almonds.
The part of the country rock was lemon cream in fluffy cakes.
Not only exquisite colors were great, but also the taste was superb.
I like it the best out of the four.

And then, Amethyst
The beautiful purple color was characteristic, and was reproduced with two kinds of purple jellies.
The white base part was creamy panna cotta.

At last, Garden quartz
Complex colors of the mineral were reproduced with strawberry taste mascarpone cream, coffee cookie tiramise, and transparent jelly with amaretto.
It was the highest expression, and surprised me a lot.
