I went to a very popular Chinese restaurant, Nanpo-chuka-ryouri Minami in Yotsuya, which is hard to make a reservation.
Let’s eat the one and only exquisite spicy Chinese dishes cooked by chef Mizuoka.
It is really hard to make a reservation, however I regularly go to there because of for old time’s sake. Thank chef. Mizuoka.
At first, cheers with Shaoxing wine.
The first dish was a special feast, six kinds of appetizer sampler.
Boiled with Oolong tea octopus with dill mustard
Edamame seasoned with Shaoxing wine and pickled Taiwan hibiscus
Taiwanese grilled corn with Sa-cha-jan sauce
Somen pumpkin, sea urchin, and Kinka ham with jelly
Bitter gourd and duck with edd pickled in salt
Drooling tuna
The second dish was three kinds of assorted Chinese delicacies, which made you drink more sake.
Smoked duck tongue, crispy fried intestine, and Uyghur sausage
The third dish was a saute of morning glory and dried meat.
It was tasty, because it brought well out umami of dried meat, and simple but savory taste.
The fourth dish was pork and Chinese chive dumpling.
It was really exquisite and supreme, since the dough was thick, the inside meat was solid, and the back side of the dumpling skin was crispy.
The fifth dish was pike conger fritto with 2 kinds of chilli peppers.
It was not as spicy as it looked, and the chilli peppers’ good smell went well with the pike conger.
The sixth dish was Taiwan style cutlet curry.
It was the first time for me to eat the curry cooked by chef Mizuoka.
I love it! The curry was big with spicy sauce like Yakuzen curry, a lot of pork and cutlet.
I wish that chef Mizuoka open the curry only restaurant in somewhere else. lol
I thought the Taiwan style cutlet curry was 〆(shime).
However there was the seventh dish, Rice noodle with dried mullet roe.
It completely looked like Carbonara spaghetti, but the taste was totally different.
The noodle was much thicker than usual rice noodle, but the taste was actually rice noodle. And the creamy sauce was not Carbonara taste, but it was dried mullet roe taste.
The eighth dish was coconut An-nin Tofu with peach sherbet and peach tree sap.
Their dessert was also refreshing and delicious.
Everytime I visit the restaurant, there are new dishes and new discovery.
It is convincing that it is hard to make a reservation at the restaurant, because their Chinese dishes make us go there again and again.
